This is a slide presentation on Disaster Survival Skills put together by RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) of Arlington Virginia. Â From the information I have have been recieving it seems that the areas near Washington DC are getting a lot of additional training. Â This includes not just communication training, but training on nuclear detonations and EMP.
I wish the government would take this type of training nationwide.

As FYI these materials were prepared by Arlington and Fairfax County fire academy instructor cadre who are members of one of the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Teams, who responded to the 9/11 attacks and have world wide disaster response experience going back several decades. The target audience for this training was municipal employees and citizen corps groups such as CERT, Neighborhood Watch and Medical Reserve Corps. Several large government contractors and other municipal governments in the National Capital Operational Region also use this module or their own version of similar material, for awareness training of personnel.
These materials were placed in the public domain so that the information could be made widely available to interested parties and organizations.
