The M3 Medic’s Bag

I recently received a first aid kit from Freezedryguy.  The kit comes in an improved M3 Medic Bag that opens into three sections for easy and quick access to all your first aid supplies.  The bag comes with shoulder and M.O.L.L.E. straps. The bag is made of a good sturdy grade of nylon.  Improvements include relocating the D ring for the shoulder straps so that the bag stays in the upright position.  Zippers are of good quality and the bag was easy to unzip using one hand.

•    The M3 Medic bag measures 8”x7”x9”.
•    The M3 Medic complete Bag including contents weighs 3.9 lbs.
•    The M3 Medic bag is available in 2 colors: ACU & OLIVE DRAB.

The contents include a 135 items.

One thing that this kit contains, that is missing from most commercial first aid kits is a number of large dressings.  There are abdominal pads and a large BleedStop bandage. Having been in the Fire service, I understand the importance of large dressings, when faced with a serious injury.  The included SAM splint is not only functional, but can be left on during x-rays.  This can save a patient considerable pain.  There is extra room for you to add items.  A doctor that looked at the kit, liked it and stated that if he added EpiPens, prescription meds, and extra sutures, he would not hesitate to carry it.  The contents of the kit are well balanced and I would feel comfortable in taking this into the field without adding anything.

  1. A veteran who is preparing

These things are known as CLS bags in the military. That stands for Combat Lifesaver bag. I have recommended these to people over the years to get, and this one is better stocked then most I see for sale. The most important thing to remember though is training. It does you no good to have all these med supplies and not know how to use them. If you are in the military (Active, Guard, Reserve) try to get into CLS at least once. Attend Red Cross first aid classes. If you can attend EMT training or first responder. The more medical training you have the better your family/group will be.

Another thing you might want to do an article on is the IFAK, or Improved First Aid Kit. Those I seriously tell people they need to get for EVERYONE in your family/group. Vastly superior to anything that was issued previously.

  2. I HAVE MADE MY OWN MED BAG, HOWEVER THE MED KIT IN THIS ARTICLE SEEMS TO BE MORE COMPLETE. THE THING THAT I DID NOT SEE WAS ISREAL BATTLE PACK. (BLOOD STOPPER) ANY COMMENTS
    THANKS TED
