Files, Why They Should be Part of Your Preps

I have spend some time talking to some older gentlemen and reading a book of shop theory put out by the Henry Ford Trade School in 1944.  This and remembering the past has made me realize just how important files are when you do not have access to the power tools we all depend on today.

When you don’t have access to power or are unable to replace dull or damaged tools, you really need files.  A good selection will let you sharpen many different tools including axes, shovels, and saws.  If you have to repair damaged or broken items, a good set of files will help you to fit mismatched parts together. …

Why You Need a Good Set of Files

In the past when you had to depend on hand tools, files were very important.  They were used to sharpen everything from your shovels to your axes.  Our tools had too last and a sharp tool makes the work easier.  Today most of us just buy new largely junk tools and throw them out when they are damaged.  You never see anyone make and install a new handle on a shove or ax today.
