A Simple Concealed Compartment in Your Vehicle

Vehicle prior to installation of plywood cover

My wife recently became concerned about people being able to see inside her SUV and see her get home bag.  So she decided to do something about it.  With a little help she got a piece of plywood cut to match the floor in the rear area of her vehicle.  The board was then covered in carpet that matched the interior of her car.  Four legs were then placed under the plywood.  When the plywood is in place and the rear door is open you have access to a compartment under the plywood.  If you look into the rear compartment with the door closed, it looks like it is empty.

It is a fairly simple idea that decreases the likelihood of your vehicle being burglarized

Very nice, be more than a little concerned because smash and grabs are on the increase almost everywhere

I have a similar problem with lack of hidden storage. I put an ammo box under the hood. Bolted it from the inside and it has a lock on the outside. My vehicle has a lot of extra space under the hood and I could probably store a get home bag there if I wanted to. Most vehicles have limited space and perhaps the high value items from a get home bag could be stored in a small lockable box under the hood.

  3. Creating a simple little hidden storage compartment is a great idea. Thanks for sharing this.

I keep an extra pistol and 300 rounds of ammo in the tire well of my car. Screw down cover covered with carpet. Unless you know that model of vehicle you don’t even know the tire well is there.
