Handy Farm Devices and How to Make Them

Old books are a great source of information.  I have learned many old techniques from them.  While looking on the    Cornell University Library website, I came across a book called “Handy farm devices and how to make them”.  It was first published in 1912.  The book describes how to make many old time farm tools and how to use older hand tools.  It can be downloaded for free at the following site, http://archive.org/details/cu31924080109832 .

A qiuck glance at the index shows the valuble subjects covered

The book also includes such subjects as cheese making and bee keeping.  If you are planning for long term self reliance, it is well worth downloading and printing.

Thanks for the link Art! This looks like a useful book to keep around in hardcopy. Another one, from 1922, is Mrs. Curtis’s Cookbook and Household Discoveries. It has some very useful and practically tips. See http://www.wildriverrogues.com/2011/09/household-tips-tricks-for-teotwawki/ and http://www.wildriverrogues.com/2011/03/the-care-of-lamps-from-household-discoveries-and-mrs-curtiss-cookbook/. I’m a big fan of old books for practical value.
